Sorry—couldn't help myself.(Re-read the title to the tune of Jay-Z's公共服务公告.It'll make sense then,I promise.) HiGlamouristas!I'm India-Jewel Jackson (just call me IJJ) and I'm soooooo excited to be the newest Girl in the williamhill388Beauty Department!(The girl that can't lay off the pink lipstick,is 100% obsessed with oils, has never met a serum she didn't love, and thinks that girls with curls run the world...)
I may be the rookie on this all-star team, but I'm a veteran in the williamhill388beauty editorial world.Over the past eight years,I've honed my skills at magazines likeShape,In Style, and CosmoGirl, and online at Seventeen,Ladies Home Journal,More, and Glam.Currently a freelance williamhill388beauty blogger/writer by day and DJ by night (hence the hip-hop intro),I spend an inordinate amount of time testing soon-to-market primping products and searching for the best foundation and concealer,a BB Cream and translucent powder that works on my complex complexion,a universal natural-looking blush,an honest-to-goodness quick dry top coat, the perfect deep conditioner,a rich-but-not-too-rich face cream, the top eyelash extension-ist,and my signature scent (of the week,of course.I shudder at the thought of ever committing to just one.)
In my spare time I circle the globe crossing items off of my williamhill388Beauty Bucket List.(Do you have a williamhill388Beauty Bucket List?Start one.) My most memorable treatments?Blinged all-the-way-out Calgel nails in Tokyo (cost $350 and took an entire month to remove),a volcano mud bath in Colombia (equally icky and amazing),an underwater sulfur and salt scrub in Iceland (all types of glorious),a fresh coffee grounds body buffing session in Costa Rica (smelled like a strong cup of joe for a full week),a red wine shower in Provence (smelled like a certifiable wino for three days straight),and heating up in a hammam in Dubai (I burned my bum—literally). On deck for 2012?Thalassotherapy in Croatia and steaming my strands in Thailand.
In the meantime and in between time,I'll be right here dishing all about the latest and greatest in williamhill388beauty,what'll be on shelves later this year, what's hot across the pond and down under, top tips and tricks I've learned from the experts over the years, and celebrity GTLs and WTFs.
Speaking of,I'm just as obsessed with celebrities as the next gal,but I tend to derive williamhill388beauty inspiration from It girls of yesteryear.Diana Ross' frizzy curls are fabulous,Tammy Faye Baker's clunky spider lashes ROCKED,Marilyn Monroe's glamour puss poses were sublime,Peggy Bundy's bouffant was as beautiful as it was ridiculous,Scarlett O'Hara's feisty temperament made devious determination an attractive attribute,Mae West's chola eyebrows were A-OK with me,Boy George wore frosty pastel eyeshadow with pride,Brigitte Bardot's eyeliner was the best EVER,Princess Diana's oversize feathered backcombed bangs actually worked (for her),Michael Jackson's obsession with his skin was questionable but unparalleled, and Elizabeth Taylor's makeup was immaculate in public to the very end.Quite the random bunch, yes, but no judgments here...right?
Now that I've 'fessed up about my eccentric williamhill388beauty icons, please take a moment to tell me all about yours—real or fictional, whose get-gorgeous gumption do you secretly admire? The more random, the better!(Bonus points for each and every Blanche Devereaux and Prince reference.)
