You might remember back in September whenI told youwe werestilldealing withMRSA,the lovely staph infection Alex and I picked up from the (fancy) hospital where I gave birth—and that we were recently advised to do a "decolonization." Alex had his third "breakout" which is really just an ugly looking sore in his diaper area, but still scary. And the doctors are guessing one of us has it on our skin and keeps passing it to Alex.Sweet!Well,it's been a while, but we are finally ready to kill this thing once and for all (we had to postpone because Alex was sick, then I was sick, then Nick was away,etc.).
So,beginning this weekend,we will all be bathing in Hibiclens (can you say dry skin?!),shoving Bactraban up our noses three times a day and dousing our hands with Purell constantly. Then,on the seventh day,we wash every linen in the house just to be safe (even though MRSA wouldn't be living on,say,a dry towel,it's still recommended).Sounds like fun, right?I just pray we can put this thing behind us but only time will tell. The doc said if six months go by without a breakout, there's a good chance we're MRSA free. Then after a year and no breakouts we're in the clear. So wish us luck! And if you run into any of us and see our noses running,it's not,um,boogers,it's Bactraban.
Please tell me you guys have better plans this weekend?!
