Lord knows you spend a lot of time snapping the perfect photo (and choosing the perfect filter) before posting it online.(Hey,we do,too.) But after the likes begin to taper off, that masterpiece you invested so much energy in just drops down your feed, never to be seen again.Unless you turn the pic into a piece of custom wall art—which will remind you of your artistic genius daily.
To bring your custom-art dreams to life,we went straight to DIY whispererMr.Kate.She and actressPeyton Listmade the project super-easy for our latestGlamour-exclusive video. And the best part? The whole thing costs less than $10 — we'll just pause here for a second while that sinks in.
Here's what you need:
large-scale print of photo: about $5 from a copy shoptwo wood dowels: $1 to $2 eachhot glue and gunscrew hooks: $1 per packrope: about $2(We used leather, but any material will do!)
To get on board with this decor hack, first thing's first — you have to pick a photo;a black-and-white pic will look chic in any space.Once you've made your choice, have the photo printed at a copy shop.(A friend who has an engineer or architect printer could also do the job for you.)
Once you have your print,it's time to prep your dowels.Screw two screw hooks into the same side of one wood dowel. They should be spaced apart evenly.
Then cut a piece of rope and tie the ends to the hooks. This is how you'll hang your art.
Now,hot glue the dowel with the hooks and rope to the top of your print, and glue the other dowel to the bottom.
Be sure to press down hard to ensure that the print doesn't get wrinkled, then set it aside to dry.
Finally, hang it up!And don't forget to bask in the glory of a craft well done. You deserve it.
