I just re-watched华伦天奴:末代皇帝last night. If you haven't seen it,I suggest Netflixing it,pouring yourself a glass of prosecco—or,depending on your DOB,sparkling cider—and spending the evening indulging in a little high-威廉希尔备用网址fashion drama anda few adorable pugs. The rich documentary reminded me how many unbelievable,movie-worthy stories there are in the glitzy 威廉希尔备用网址fashion world, including this you've-got-to-hear-this gem:
I was leafing through theBulgari: From 1884 to 2009: 125 Years of Italian Jewelsbook earlier this year and stumbled upon this OMG-inducing tale about the fascinating high-stakes world of diamonds and jewels:
*__"One of the most sensational episodes occurred in 1977 at Bulgari New York.A guest at the Pierre Hotel called the shop requesting that a salesperson be sent up to his suite with a selection of rings. When the salesman returned, one of the diamond rings worth 35,000 dollars was missing. It was a rather large ring set with two emerald-cut diamonds for a total of 4 carats.Soon after, the man,a notorious swindler, managed to check out of the hotel.A year later, however,he was arrested for unrelated fraud charges and died in a Michigan jail.During a routine autopsy,
doctors found the missing ring in the man's stomach.
"__*Can you believe it?!Makes me wonder when, exactly the thief swallowed the ring—and how (ick) he expected to get it out again? There's another crazily amazing story in the book that involves a 24 carat lilac pink diamond being kicked across the floor of a Roman nightclub, but I'll save that one for another day.(Or you spoiler alert lovers can read it for yourself,on page 195 ofBulgari:125 Years of Italian Jewels.)
On a scale of 1 to 10,how crazy is that story?!If exciting tales about gems and jewels is your thing, you might want to read this tale ofthe diamond made out of dog hair,the$3 million diamond bra,the diamond ringthat comes with a fantasy weekend trip,
