The Internet is the place where many of life's most pressing questions are answered—how can Ieliminate Donald Trump from my Facebook news feed? What is the correct way to eat Oreos?—and now,we have an answer to a pop culture pickle: Which Hogwarts house would the founding fathers be sorted into?
The answer comes from none other than Hermione Granger (a.k.a.Harry Potterstar Emma Watson) herself. In a video for HeForShe—a campaign promoting gender equality—Watson spoke with Lin Manuel Miranda, the creator of the hit Broadway musicalHamilton. When asked for her take on where in the Great Hall each of the founding fathers in the Broadway cast would sit,Watson channeled her inner sorting hat and broke it down.
Aaron Burr:"Obviously Slytherin.Just all ambition. There was a case to be made for Hufflepuff.Because I feel like as a young man...Aaron could have grown,he could have developed, but he didn't.So Slytherin."
Alexander Hamilton:"Gryffindor. For me he is all authenticity, all courage." Though, according to Miranda,Daniel Radcliffe said that he would put Hamilton into Ravenclaw. We're inclined to agree with the straight-A student.
Eliza and Angelica Schuyler:"It was very difficult for me to sort Eliza and Angelica.I had originally put Eliza in Ravenclaw and Angelica in Gryffindor, and then I decided to switch them.So I think Eliza would be Gryffindor and Angelica for Ravenclaw because she's just all brains. She makes [a] decision about Hamilton, she assesses the situation, and she decides to do the smart thing rather than follow her heart.Whereas [Eliza] to me just feel like all heart, all courage."
Watson then goes on to beatbox (yes, beatbox!) while Miranda freestyle raps about feminism.(As he said,"You can thank me on the Twitter.") Needless to say,you should drop everything and watch this vid (the "sorting" starts at 4:15).
