Withnaked dressesandslits up-to-there,it's pretty obvious that no one's monitoring most red carpets to make sure stars are covered up enough. Not so for theDancing With the Starsteam—hostErin Andrewshad to get her sheer floor-length gown approved before wearing it to last night's finale show.
The silhouette was one Andrews said she'd been wanting to try, though it was "very outside the box" from what she normally wears on the show. And because it's a family-friendly competition,higher-ups weighed in to make sure too much skin wasn't being shown.
"We had to get approval for how much skin we were showing," stylist Alyssa GreenetoldPeople."In the end we had to cover up a little more than we would have liked, but we still totally went for the sheer, sexy look."
The dress is by Brazilian designer Davidson Zanine, and when contrasted with some of his other pieces,it's easy to image what alterations the ABC team might have mandated.Unlike the gold style Carrie Underwood wore to the ACMs,Andrews' has more beading on the bottom and crystal "straps" that extend up her shoulders, adding a bit of extra coverage. The designer's other red-carpet looks—including one seen on Brazilian model Ellen Milgrau at this year's amfAR Gala—are totally see-through,with only smattering of sparkles to protect the wearer's modesty.
