Last night I watched my first ever episode ofSuburgatory, which a lot of my TV twins (the people who like the same shows that I do) suggested. It was a rerun--it was the Halloween show--so I felt like it was a great place to jump in.The plotlines were easy to get into and I was charmed by Jane Levy and Jeremy Sisto, but my takeaway from the show was Cheryl Hines. Her character,Dallas Royce, gives new meaning to over-the-top--think: leopard-print dress with cut-out sides, boobs not spilling but *erupting *from the top and press-on nails that she popped on and off with the expertise of one of theReal Housewives of New Jersey.
What a piece of work!
After talking about her last night during the show (at length because her character is such a fun departure from herCurb Your Enthusiasmrole) and again today at an Obsessed meeting,Cheryl's been on my mind all day.So I thought it was especially funny that tonight, while looking through the latest celebrity photos,I came across pix of the actress running errands in Hollywood during a day off from her ABC series.
Wearing jeans and flats, and accessorized with a long scarf and large handbag...could Cheryl be more different Dallas?!
I just loved the contrast between the actress and character. How fun it must be for Cheryl to get to go to work and really turn it up like that...and she does it so well.
What do you think of Cheryl's *Suburgatory *role? Can you think of other TV stars who seem to be NOTHING like their characters?Share some of your favorite ones below.
