You know howGossip GirlmadeBlake LivelyandLeighton Meestersuperstars overnight?连续波的新节目Reignmay do just that for its own five leading ladies: Adelaide Kane,23,takes on the daunting sixteenth-century role of Mary,Queen of Scots, with Jenessa Grant,24,安娜Popplewell,24,Celina Sinden,25,and Caitlin Stasey,23,playing her loyal—but not so innocent—ladies in waiting. The show's got love triangles, loads of jewels, and dance parties to the tunes of top pop hits (suspend your disbelief),so clear your Thursday nights.
The costars and friends were reunited atGlamour's shoot for the first time since filming months earlier. So,yes, many hugs, squeals, and crumpets were shared.Listen in:
Glamour:The costumes inReignareunbelievable. How uncomfortable were those corsets and petticoats?
Adelaide:Spanx are a piece of cake compared to a corset!I actually had to spread out my lunch into three small meals because if I ate too much at once,my stomach would hurt.On the plus side, you almost don't need to act.The corset helps you carry yourself and walk in a different way all on its own.
Caitlin:Because we wore only long dresses,we never had to shave our legs. That wasawesome.
Anna:After shooting, the first thing I always did was put on pajamas. You're wearing the most elegant costumes all day,but I think it actually turns you into a bit of a slob in your own life.
Glamour:You filmed the pilot in Ireland. How did you guys spend time together outside of filming?
Anna:Celina and I are from England,Adelaide and Caitlin are from Australia, and Jenessa is from Canada. So we were all far from home and went on amazing touristy adventures in Dublin, including a visit to the Guinness factory.I like Guinness, but it's too filling!
Jenessa:I never had such great female friends untilReign. When I first met the other girls,I was intimidated by how beautiful and talented they were. But I learned to get over it,and now I'm so grateful for them.
Glamour:Growing up,did you dream of becoming royalty?
Celina:Definitely!Cinderellawas my favorite movie, but not because I wanted to meet my Prince Charming.I just wanted to wear that dress!I feel like I've officially achieved my goal.
Jenessa:I wasn't really the princess type—I actually wanted to be Aladdin, not Jasmine.I always used to look up to the male characters in movies because they were the ones in on all the action. But these days,I think there are stronger female heroes on-screen.
Adelaide:At some point every girl dreams of becoming a princess.Playing a queen is the next best thing to playing a princess. But I get to wear better jewelry than a princess,so I'm down with that.
Glamour:How on earth did you all prep for a show that's set in 1557 France?
Adelaide:Theoretically,Mary and I are related—the bloodline on my mother's side goes back to the royal House of Stuart. It was really important for me to learn about her as a monarch, woman, and friend.
Anna:I've actually been sitting in the British Library in London.I have my research process down to a science: I read a chapter of a history book, then I watch an episode ofGossip Girlon my iPad!
