Before you all take off for your long, relaxing holidays weekends, help a girl out?
This is mostly just to let you guys know that even though I haven't been talking about it much lately,I am still dating! In fact,I have a date this weekend, and after three instances of pulling my usual trick of forcing the guy to pick the place and take all the pressure off myself,it's finally my turn.Despite my years of experience at this point,I still HATE picking the date-night spot, especially in a place like New York City, where you never know when a restaurant or bar will be unexpectedly packed, shut down for an event,or even just suddenly out of business.(Seriously, that happens! My friend and I once biked to Williamsburg for this supposedly great taco place only to find it had shut down literally the day before.Grr.)
But it's time to take this guy up on his offer to come to my neighborhood,so I have to pick the spot.I don't think we're at the stage of trying anything too out of the box—it's been wine bars and dinner so far—but I can't decide even among the regular ideas. Here are some options in my neighborhood that could work:
Option 1:Beer garden.
Pros:Laid-back,affordable food,potential to sit outside if it's nice,and giant beers,obviously.
Cons:Always crowded,possible rain,do I even like drinking beer on a date?
Option 2:Local mid-priced restaurant.
Pros:Cozy and romantic,normal prices,good food.
Cons:Not much, except maybe this is the most boring, safe option.
Option 3:Local fancy restaurant.
Pros:Insanely good food and cocktails.
Cons:Who's paying for this?I neither want to pay nor seem greedy.Ha!
Option 4:Cook at home.
Pros:Intimate,I'm a pretty good cook, eliminates the awkward moment of the check.
Cons:I have roommates, and my dishwasher is broken. This is never going to happen.Just forget this one.
Option 5:Quick bite and a movie.
Pros:A good switch from just drinks and dinner, which have been our previous dates, plus a guaranteed new topic of conversation after the movie.
Cons:The (super-cool) movie theater by me mainly plays artsy, independent movies or smart documentaries, all of which I have been known to fall asleep during because I have a shallow, short attention span. Not my best quality to show off.
在你问之前,that's all the details you're getting for now.Help me decide what to do,and maybe you'll get more updates soon.I'm leaning toward just going with the safe, boring option, unless you guys talk me into something more creative,so feel free to suggest other things you think are appropriate for a fourth date?
What do you guys think I should do?And is anyone going on any fun dates or weekend trips for the holiday?Tell me!
