Good morning! What do you do when you're the most unpopular outgoing President in modern history?Arrange a photo op!And maybe you talk to your replacement a little. That plus we are asked to think about the future with Sarah Palin, after the jump.
The Meet And Greet President George and Laura Bush met President-Elect Barack and Michelle Obamaoutside the White House yesterday for a photo. In what one assumes was not a planned coincidence, both men wore dark suits, white shirts and blue ties and both women wore red dresses.Laura gave Michelle a tour of the private residence while the gentlemen talked amongst themselves.
The ConversationAlthough,as is traditional, the conversation between Obama and Bush was off-the-record,one piece of information has emerged from the meeting.Obama asked Bushto sign off on more help for struggling U.S.automakers,which Bush reportedly said he would consider as part of a new stimulus package—if and only if that package contains the ratification of the free trade agreement with Colombia that Obama and the Democrats oppose. So I guess that's a no.
Another Obama Appointment?Word on the street is that the Obama transition team hasapproached former Clinton adviser Patti Solis Doyleabout a "senior position" in the new Administration.Doyle, who Clinton reportedly blamed for her February drubbing in the primaries, could join the Obama administration as the Cabinet secretary.
Palin SpeaksGovernor Sarah Palin will giveher first post-election public addresson Thursday at the annual meeting of the Republican Governor's Association. Its title will be "Looking Toward the Future," by which we assume she'll be talking about herself.
Palin On PalinPalin also began a new series of post-election interviews to salvage her public reputation.Shetold Fox's Greta Van Susteren last nightthat she expects that God will open another door to the White House for her in 2012 or 2016.I wonder if she still doesn't know that it's the American people who have to elect her?She might want to talk to (soon to be former) Senator Elizabeth Dole about how much people care about which candidate God supposedly wants in office.
What did you think of the current President's and the President-Elect's matching outfits?Do you think Obama should compromise on Colombia? And do you think Palin has a shot in 2012?
